Paisa Vasool starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shriya Saran hit theatres today. After playing a historical character in his 100th film, the actor is returning to doing what he does best, hardcore massy roles. The trailer promises an out and out commercial entertainer with Nandamuri Balakrishna kicking ass and delivering epic one liners in style. Much to Balayya fans the film has finally released. Here’s what critics have to say about this masala entertainer:
Times Of India has declared Paisa Vasool, an out and out Balayya film: “The film is an out-and-out Balakrishna show. Puri Jagannadh has gone in for a stylish gangster look of Balayya replete with one-liners intended specifically for the fans. While there is nothing especially remarkable about the songs, the background music by Anup Ruebens is in sync with the script. Shriya Saran as the main female lead gets a good role whereas Musskan Sethi is more of an addendum. Kyra Dutta is seen in the role of a cop masquerading as an item girl.” Also Read: Paisa Vasool teaser: Get ready for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s massiest avatar till date
Hindustan Times is not impressed by Puri Jagannadh’s loud display of action but belioeve Nandamuri can still deliver a whistle worthy performance : Like most of his recent films, Puri’s Paisa Vasool is violent and loud. The action can be fathomed but one still can’t understand the director’s obsession for loud presentation, which started with Temper and doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon. Balakrishna, at 57, can still deliver a whistle-worthy performance and he can still give young actors a run for their money with his dance moves.
123 Telugu is of the view Nandamuri is the highlight of this film – aisa Vasool works only because of Nandamuri Balakrishna and his energetic performance. After a long gap, you get to see him in a mass avatar and his fans will surely love Teda Singh’s character. Puri has managed to design Balayya’s role typically for fans as the star hero mouths Puri style trade mark dialogues and punch lines which are quite superb.
Mirchi9 believes Nandamuri is the highlight in this predictable plot: Paisa Vasool is a very ordinary movie story wise. The film looks like a combination of past Puri Jagannadh films with best bits taken from each of them. The twists, the characterization, the plot movement give a heavy dose of Deja Vu. Maybe that is why the director puts the entire burden on Balakrishna so that focus shifts from him.
